COVID19 and Small Business

Remember New Year’s Eve, 12/31/19 when we all thought 2020 was going to be the best year ever? Yeah, about that… Between the election, the global health crisis (now an official pandemic), the economy/stock market, and the toilet paper hoarders, it’s been a wild first few weeks of the year. That’s right, we’re only 11 weeks in.

What does all this uncertainty mean for your business? Well, if you’re a social media client of Green Apple Lane, we’ve already reached out to you with suggestions for the short-term.

And for everyone, we posted a video earlier this week with some suggestions, and also these ideas about how to use this time wisely:

Listen, I’m a silver-linings kind of gal, and this is the PERFECT time to do the things you always put off that will make your business stronger in the long-run!

• audit your website & update your images/wording
• look over your contracts
• get your bookkeeping in order
• reevaluate your pricing
• launch a webinar
• launch a podcast
• start an accountability facebook group with your core customers/clients/followers
• go live and create more video
• start an e-course or training
• watch videos that expand your skillset
• read or listen to audiobooks by leaders in your industry or business in general
• practice or learn a foreign language
• curate who you follow on social media and maybe unfollow some things that are no longer serving you

When daily operations get back to normal, you will hit the ground running, stronger and better-prepared than ever! USE. THIS. TIME. Make it work for you! If we can help, let me know - we're working every day from our home offices!

We hope this information is helpful right now. Stay tuned for working at home suggestions – having worked from home for over 10 years, we’re pretty much experts on this topic.

Something you can be doing right away is testing your equipment and connectivity from home. Can the company issue you a laptop temporarily if you don’t already own one? Work with your supervisors, HR, and IT departments to ensure you have access to emails, files, drives, and programs you might need if you have to work from home for a few weeks. Do you have a printer? Will you even need to print documents or will a phone scanner app suffice in the interim? (Pro tip: Dropbox has a great pic-to-pdf feature and I love the app CamScanner as well). These are important considerations and hopefully you’re already getting plans in order. Reach out anytime if you have specific questions we can help with!
